Limerick City Development Board
Quality of Life

The quality of our environment has an immeasurable impact on our quality of life. Limerick City is fortunate in its possession of a range of high quality natural and built environments, including the River Shannon and examples of superb architecture dating from all periods of its life. We need to ensure that these assets are conserved and, where possible enhanced. To ensure a sustainable future for the City and a high quality of life for all of its citizens we need to work so that the City is clean and that modern waste management practice is undertaken in a manner that will not impinge on the City or its people. One of the key considerations required in developing a high standard quality of life, is not only the provision of services, but ensuring all people have access to services, and have access to and from the City. To date, most of the attention to providing access to the City has been given to road development, however to ensure all people have access to services, there is a need for improved public transport. 07.3 It is a challenge for the City to ensure that all people in Limerick have access to a high quality of life. This means that:
- all people will live in a high quality, safe, sustainable, natural and built environment.
- all people will have access to a choice of services and facilities.
- there will be a strong sense of community identity: all people will have a sense of belonging in the community and will have the opportunity to participate in the life and governance of the City.
